If you want background music for keeping busy around the house, this isn't the CD. However, if you want to kick off your shoes and sip on a tall tropical beverage, then The Essential Resophonics have delivered the ideal soundtrack for your journey in Hawaiian relaxation.

Even the oftentimes spicy "Sophisticated Hula" just makes you want to have a lazy Hawaiian day. The musicianship on this album is excellent for a group of young talent. Their love for the music comes through and has lots of soul that takes the listener back to the days of Hawaii calls and Waikiki's golden years.

The star of the recording is the sweet, haunting sounds of the steel guitar which is featured on every track. Thank you Buck Giles for sharing your 1928 National tricone with us. Take a listen to the original tune composed by Giles called Easy. Another oldie but goodie instrument shared on this gem is the 1920's Kahola ukulele played by Ryan Potes (local boy transplant). A guest appearance from the living legend Bill Tapia just solidifies the recording as an essential for any collector.
