Times Five: Hanapa'a
[ Rating: 40_of_50_stars ]

Times Five equals five guys with Big Island roots who sing and play from the heart. Their battle of the Bands winning talent combined with the experience and skill of award-winning producer/musician/composer Sean Na'auao comes the new sound of this debut release, Hanapa'a.

Their sound is a blend of country, contemporary island and Hawaiian compositions. Of particular note on the album are the three original tracks composed by lead vocalist Mark "Maleko" Yamanaka: "Pa'ani Kolepa" recounts a day on the golfing green in a whimsical tune, "Country Ha'i" shows off the vocalist's yodeling talents, and "Ka Beauty A'o Lana'i" is by far my favorite track of the whole album with its poetic grace.

Pop tunes round out the album with their rendition of Neil Diamond's "Heart Light" and the ever popular Reggae Medley combining Bob Marley's "I shot the Sheriff" and "So Much Trouble in the World."
